Migration

To switch from the legacy ~/.claude setup to a named profile, do it by hand:

macOS: re-login after migrating

On macOS your login lives in the Keychain, keyed by a hash of the CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR path. Moving the directory changes that path, so Claude Code derives a new hash, finds no entry, and drops into first-time setup. Re-run /login once to sign back in — nothing was deleted, the old entry just isn't found under the new path's hash.

Marker format

Profile markers are JSON — .claude/claude-shim.json (project) and .claude-shim.json (workspace), each holding at least a profile name. Earlier alpha builds wrote plaintext markers; those are no longer read, so a directory that still has one silently stops resolving to that profile until you recreate it. Recreate it with claude-shim profile use <name> (add --workspace for a workspace marker).
